Focus Questions will be collected at the end of the reading of the play. They are timed. They should be on looseleaf paper and neatly written. Focus questions will help with your understanding of the reading and allow for connections to the text. They will also help your writing skills and stamina.
Focus Question #1 What generation do you represent in your family? Expound upon the dreams of your generation, and the ways in which they may differ from those of generations prior. (Think about what opportunities are available to you that may not have been available to your parents.)
Focus Questions #2 What do you know about the treatment of African Americans in the US before the 1960’s? Do you think this has anything to do with Troy’s behaviors/views? Expound and or explain using appropriate inferences.
Focus Question #3 To be prejudice means to form an opinion before hand. Without prejudice, make a judgment of Troy’s actions. (His affair and baby.) Defend your stance with logical support.
